Feridax (1957) Ltd is the UKs largest wholesale distributor of motorcycle and cycle clothing and accessories. Our in-house brand, Spada, has been going since 1994. All research and development is carried out from our headquarters in Halesowen. Spada is a well know brand in the motorcycle industry; following the success of the brand we have recently branched out into the development of mountain bike (MTB) clothing.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Designer to be a key player within our Product & Design team. This is a thrilling time to join the Spada brand on our journey into new markets, with the opportunity to become part of a vibrant team, offering scope for development of yourself and your role.

As the Junior Designer, you will create highly detailed design packs of multiple product types to ensure smooth and efficient development and certification of Spada garments, accessories, and footwear whilst making contributions towards existing, current, and future design projects along with the Spada Product & Design team. You will be tasked with helping to develop the Spada brand to be the go-to motorcycle and MTB apparel company by creating world beating quality within every garment that we release.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create technical drawings and annotating using Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Translate pencil sketches into size proportionate, technical garment drawings.
  • Design pack creation
  • Visual range plan creation and management
  • Carry out submission approvals with the Design Manager
  • Assist with sample management
  • Working with overseas suppliers, create the bill of materials for each garment
  • Communicate accurately with factories on product development
  • Line list creation and management
  • Ensure design packs are kept up to date during all development stages and product revisions are distributed to relevant parties
  • Carry out updates to CE manuals, branding and product info for marketing
  • Work with the Technical Product Advisor to create accurate technical packs to apply for PPE certification
  • Work with the Garment Technologist to help manage the critical path
  • Work with the Garment Technologist to ensure suppliers have all packaging artworks and instructions once PO’s have been placed
  • Assisting the marketing team by providing accurate product info and CAD’s
  • Product research and creating comparison reports
  • Organising product sign-off meetings with stake holders and taking meeting minutes
  • General Microsoft Office use for issuing, report and indexing documentation

Key Skills

  • 2 years+ experience as a working within a Design Department within the apparel industry. Ideally in outerwear or/and functional apparel.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Exceptional eye for detail and can meticulously record details in 2D
  • Working knowledge of fabrics and their applications
  • Experience of working with international suppliers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office and email competent
  • Flexible, willing to learn and keep up to date with the latest developments in technology
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • Show passion for the product through a proactive and motivated approach to your work
  • Excellent work ethic, highly organized
  • Experience working with technical products such as motorcycle
  • PPE/MTB/Cycling, would be highly advantageous

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA or equivalent qualification in a clothing related subject
  • Good knowledge of fabrics, trims & branding
  • Experience working with technical products from overseas suppliers
  • An understanding of garment construction and manufacture
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience in MTB or motorcycle PPE
  • Interest in action sports
  • The desire to take a brand to new heights with innovative ideas

There may be a requirement for international travel to carry out business with existing and prospective suppliers.
