Your team: Situated within News UK’s commercial department, the Strategic Development team is tasked with driving revenue through expertise, thought leadership, and innovation whilst creating the foundations for future revenue streams. You will report into the Sun Selects Editor and work closely with individuals from the team as well as key stakeholders from our broadcasting businesses.
Your role:
As Commissioning Editor, you will commission, edit and publish review based content to live under and develop The Sun Selects brand. An experienced newsroom writer and editor, you will create content strategy rooted in data and analytics, with commercial responsibility across the portfolio to ensure revenue growth and yield targets are met. A strong self-starter and a stickler for detail, you will be adept at managing multiple projects and stakeholders, ensuring complete accuracy and efficiency at all times.
Day to day you will:
- Work closely with and under the direction of the Sun Selects Editor to develop and build the editorial strategy for The Sun Select
- Commission best in class review content based on strategic decisions rooted in data and insight
- Edit and sub copy to an impeccable standard, taking into account section specific tone and style
- Research and review products and write engaging articles with your findings
- Take guidance from the Commercial SEO Lead in order to commission and publish content that resonates with our audiences and traffic sources
- Work towards traffic, revenue and engagement targets, ensuring key metrics are achieved across all areas of work
- Work closely with wider stakeholders (the SDL, EEL, HOCC) to build revenue streams across the section and increase yield wherever possible
- Support BAU/partnerships ecommerce and affiliates endeavours (Black Friday etc) when required
- Have an understanding of commercial arrangements and the importance of these, and how they are applied day to day
- Commission, edit and publish with ASA and CAP code regulations front of mind, ensuring compliance with these at all times
Key Skills
- A proactive self-starter with the ability to manage multiple workstreams efficiently and at high volume
- Experienced writer/editor with an understanding of the fast-paced digital newsroom
- Have an understanding of ASA regulations and CAP code implications
- In-depth understanding of SEO and social delivery
- Excellent editing and subbing skills, with strong experience in a similar role
- Strong commercial acumen
