Core Purpose
To coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Society’s Information Technology department in accordance with Society policy, Co-operative values & principles, to agreed targets and deadlines, and within the budgetary constraints.
Accountability & Impact
The post-holder is responsible for improving the level of service of the Information Technology department to reduce and minimise system downtime, while developing the systems to assist trading managers achieve their strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the post-holder will have full operational control of the IT department and responsible for delivering IT projects to agreed targets. These duties will include but are not exhaustive:
Staffing
To ensure that during trading hours an adequate support service is available to all system users to minimise business interruption.
Communication
To ensure all departmental colleagues are kept fully up-to-date on department and Society initiatives and performance.
Management Information
To ensure all operational management information is produced in an accurate and timely manner for business users.
Supplier Relationships
To manage relationships and contracts with third party suppliers to ensure effective provision of services.
Cost Control
To manage the IT department’s budget effectively.
Development
To develop the Society’s Information Systems in line with the Society’s strategic objectives.
Leadership
To lead the department’s colleagues through demonstrating Co-operative values & principles, and Co-operative working in performing day-to-day duties.
Applying Knowledge
The post-holder will need to be able to use their knowledge and experience to solve problems and generate new ideas.
Working with Others
The role involves interacting with Society colleagues at all levels in addition to suppliers.
The post-holder must be able to communicate confidently and clearly, and be able to influence and motivate the performance of others.
Skills & Knowledge
Self-motivated and flexible in the approach to work.
Team Player.
Good communication skills.
Experience of managing people.
MCSA – Windows Server.
Working knowledge of Co-operative Values & Principles.
Project management skills.
Knowledge of Society systems and processes.
MCSA – SQL Server.
