We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Supervisor to join our Norfolk Street Lighting team a small distance from Norwich.
Amey has been working in partnership with Norfolk County Council since 2008. We manage and maintain an asset base of 53,000 streetlights and 12,000 illuminated signs, bollards and zebra beacons, delivering a safe and efficient service for fault repair and routine maintenance. We are also undertaking the upgrade of assets to LED, so as to deliver financial savings to the local Authority whilst keeping Norfolk in line with the latest initiatives to reduce carbon emissions.
Highways Supervisor plays an important part in assisting the Operational Team by co-ordinating work activities such as LED conversions, schemes/installations, and routine/reactive maintenance.
The standard hours of work are Monday to Friday 07:00-15:30 and 08:30-17:00 on a rota basis.
You will be responsible for:
- Programming work such that it is completed to a suitable standard and within the contract prescribed response times, or in line with the developer’s program.
- Carry out gate checks and site visits to ensure that the work is being done safely and in line with the safe systems of work
- Ensure that accurate records are kept on the progress of work so that this can be reported to the commercial team and the Client
- Brief operatives via regular toolbox talks and safety briefings, ensuring PPE and equipment is utilised correctly
- Ensure that operatives are provided with the correct paperwork, materials and traffic management for their work, and ensure that it is used in accordance with the required specification
- Liaise with the transport manager, pre-works co-ordinator and other supervisors to ensure resource availability to deliver the works as required
- Monitor and manage performance of operatives against target deadlines and outputs
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Competent user of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Self-motivated and proactive in delivering solutions
Ideally you will be qualified in NVQ level 2 or above in Construction or Electrical (or City and Guilds equivalent). Experience in Highways or Streetlighting contracts desirable and experience with delivering safety critical services.
