Head of Brand & Creative
Full Time - 35 hours per week (working hours)
Circa Starting Salary: £55,000
Based at our HQ near Stoneleigh, Warwickshire (Agile working arrangements available)
The British Horse Society is the nation’s largest equine charity with a passion for horses that is backed by knowledge and expertise. The BHS represents and provides a range of services for horse riders, horse owners, enthusiasts and professionals.

We are looking for someone who can be part of an exciting period of transformation for the BHS. The Head of Brand and Creative is a new role, and the successful candidate will have the enviable task of building the brand and creative strategy for the coming years. This is both a strategic and a hands on creative role and would suit someone who has had a varied creative career. We want someone to join our senior marketing team, bringing positivity and future thinking, whilst bringing our work to life.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop the brand strategy. With input from the Marketing & Communications Director, review the established foundations of the brand and propose a long-term strategy
- Work on the development of our brand proposition and the creation of new fundraising and membership products
- In depth understanding of our audiences and how that translates into creative output
- Act as the guardian of the brand and the voice for the brand values within the team and wider organisation
- Develop brand guidelines which will be used as the company’s definitive point of reference for brand visuals, messaging, and tone of voice
- Influence key stakeholders in support of consistent representation of the brand
- Lead on a variety of campaigns and creative projects. Setting briefs, contributing ideas, and overseeing progress, you’ll work closely with internal and external creative specialists
- Set procedures, frameworks, and reports to enable us to understand the strength of our brand and to track progress over time
- Manage all creative assets including photography, image archiving and video content and creation
- Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is considered in all creative outputs
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in a senior brand or creative marketing position
- Proven ability to develop effective brand strategies and product propositions, and to communicate proposals to senior management
- Demonstrable skills and experience in creating and developing creative campaigns which successfully translates into value adding operational activity
- Exceptional eye for detail and creative execution
- Experience of working with and getting the best from creative specialists including designers, video teams and copywriters
- Experience with the ideation and execution of campaign creative using both video and static imagery
- Experience in asset management and ensuring efficient and effective archiving and use of images and video content
- Excellent understanding of the broad channel marketing mix and the appropriate use of creative and testing
- A great eye for brand and creative execution
- Experience in embedding EDI in creative output
- Commercially astute with a solid understand of how brand and creative contribute to organisational objectives
- Experienced line manager with a track record in developing and leading high performing teams
