Location: Hybrid, will require site-based and office based working
We’re happy to support flexible working both through hybrid working and your working pattern. You will need to be available to attend meetings, have some cross-over with the teams and deliver the responsibilities of the role.

Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 per annum DOE (pro-rata)

Contract: Fixed Term February 2023 – March 2024

This is a 12-month parental leave cover contract.

Working hours: Minimum hours required 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE)

About the role

We are looking for a Digital Project Manager to support our in-house digital team as they enter into a busy period.

2023 will see the delivery of several key digital infrastructure projects and the reinstatement of the science centre venue, after a long period of closure following a fire.

As well as managing the challenges that will present, the team will also be
co-ordinating the move from the temporary office space, as the charity returns to it’s home in the iconic Millennium Square venue.

This role will support the charity and the Digital team to the relaunch the venue, and continue to develop strong foundations for our key business services through clear project management.

The role requires an individual with a solid understanding of digital technologies, preferably you will have a background in digital technologies and/or systems. You will be skilled at building effective partnerships and developing processes for a broad range of people and teams with excellent communication and planning skills.

What will you do in this role?

Role specific responsibilities

- Oversee the overall progress of digital projects for 2023. Confirm scope of Digital projects from briefing, specing and budgeting. Manage delivery and signoff of project milestones. Work with delivery teams to develop realistic schedules, allocate tasks and meet deadlines. Work with the technical leads to identify and mitigate against project risks.

- Support Operations, Audience and Digital teams with the project management of ticketing and CRM projects within We The Curious. You will be the first port of call, helping teams to scope and define new business requirements, log and prioritise additional functionality requests and identify areas for improvement in digital systems.

- Manage the Infrastructure Engineer and Digital Infrastructure Manager, support them to review, refine, and create processes for the digital function within We The Curious. This includes the resourcing, delivery and documentation of digital developer, infrastructure and support projects.

- Create monthly progress update report for the project teams, Senior Leadership team and, when required the board of Trustees. The report will update on status of projects, communicate obstacles, highlights, additional requirements and risks.

- Ensure the priorities of digital projects, and digital elements of projects, are set based on the needs of the charity and are clearly communicated to Teams at all stages of the project, with consultation from the Digital team.

- Work with Digital team and external consultants to ensure deliverables for projects are fully tested, meet inclusive design best practice, and are documented to support the creation of resilient future adaptive digital systems infrastructure.

- Work with teams to ensure quality of product and deliverables meet creative vision and are cost-effective, resilient solutions.

- Support Digital function and strategy within We The Curious by carrying out feasibility study and recommendations for future digital projects.

- Support the continuous professional development and wellbeing of the digital team. You’ll nurture a culture of reflective practice through supportive leadership, line management and proactive project/resource planning.

What will you do in this role?

General responsibilities

- Line management of Infrastructure Engineer and Digital Infrastructure manager

- Project management for the Ticketing and CRM roadmap, Membership online project, feasibility of incorporating ITIL processes, venue reinstatement. Project management support where required with website re-development, office move and re-asseting of the digital estate

- Attend cross departmental meetings and represent the digital team as required

- Introducing and managing key processes to support digital projects across the organisation and managing departmental internal communications for projects.

- Embody and demonstrate our values; Collaborative, Creative, Inquisitive, Playful, Progressive.

- Safeguarding and Health and Safety practice - Responsible for departmental safeguarding risk assessments, compliance and raising any concerns to manager/Designated Safeguarding Officer.'

- Fundraising - Support the Digital Infrastructure Engineer and Digital Infrastructure Manager with the development of funding bids and reports relating to your area of work.

- General responsibility for departmental compliance with GDPR.

- Support the rest of the Digital team with projects and tasks when required.

- Occasional out of hours work and travel to events depending on project need.

- Due to the responsibilities of this role, you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

What we're looking for from you

- You’ll be a technical minded individual with first hand knowledge of business IT systems, as well as an understanding and appreciation for the design and developer process for digital systems. You’ll preferably have a background in digital technologies and/or systems.

- Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment, you’ll be flexible, adaptable and have a proven track record of successfully turning ideas into actions, organising the work that needs to be done.

- Adaptability\creativity, due to the nature of the charity some of our technical systems are bespoke, off the shelf solutions are not always possible.

- Your superpower will be taking a plan or a goal and making it into a workable strategy, carrying it out as efficiently as possible. You may have a project management qualification such as Prince2 or similar. You'll have strong attention to detail and be driven by successfully delivering quality outputs.

- A clear communicator you’ll take responsibility for meeting deadlines, leading projects, setting realistic project milestones and supporting members of the team to meet them.

- Great analytical skills and attention to detail, skilled in report writing using Excel and Word.

- You’ll have great communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with your team and key peers across the business. You’ll be able to work independently and as a team to trouble shoot and escalate issues, with a positive attitude to help problem solve
