Main Responsibilities
Responsible to the TBM Sub Agent for checking of the TBM Operational parameters as excavation continues to ensure compliance with pre-set values for key parameters. Responsibilities are highlighted in the following section “but not limited to”.
- Monitoring the excavation parameters of the two TBMs in real time as excavation proceeds and responding to anomalies in the operation and excavation parameters using the SCS data acquisition and monitoring system
- Liaising with the TBM Operator and Shift Engineer in respect of operation of the TBM
- Ensuring that the TBM Sub Agent is informed of any anomalies or issues as they arise
- Monitoring the TBM and tunnel environment via the environmental system and responding to any alarms
- Responding to any emergency situation as the Control Room Supervision in terms of BS6164
- Monitoring the tunnel and surface conveyor system
- Preparation of SRG reports in respect of tunnelling operations
- Responding to results of real time settlement monitoring where required
- Monitoring CCTV images of critical areas within the tunnel
- Be flexible and be able to provide shift cover for TBM shift engineer
- Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in EPB TBM Tunnelling (desired).
- CSCS card.
- Engineering Degree / HNC or similar in a construction discipline.
- SMSTS/SSSTS desired.
- Tunnel Safety Training Scheme (TSTS) desired but will be provided.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Time management
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
