Job summary

Here at Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), we are an inclusive and dedicated organisation working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Civilian Dental Practitioner who will be working within our Primary Health Care team, here at HMNB Clyde, Faslane.

This is a Fixed term appointment offering 37 hour per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Job description

As a Civilian Dental Practitioner, you will be resourced to provide clinical outputs and work should be directed towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of service personnel.

You will be spending 2 hours per week conducting non- clinical activities including practice meetings, training, and personal administration. The remainder of the contracted hours are to be utilised to provide clinical outputs and work should be directed towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of personnel for whom you are responsible.

Person specification

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting all personnel for whom they are responsible at intervals in accordance with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow up treatment as required.
  • Providing an occupational oral health assessment, being fully conversant with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Dental Fitness categorisation and dental input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard for Service personnel.
  • Ensuring that contemporaneous notes are recorded on individuals integrated electronic healthcare records for all episodes of care.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Fully registered with the General Dental Council without conditions.
  • Either undertaken Foundation Dentist Training (or have qualified before foundation training became compulsory in the National Health Service) OR
  • Have evidence of adequate clinical experience (either in the United Kingdom or abroad) to be able to practice independently.

To be eligible to be considered for this role, qualifications and memberships detailed must be held in full, prior to submitting your application.
