The University of Lincoln is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join the Laboratory of Vision Engineering (LoVE), at the School of Computer Science. The LoVE group is internationally recognised for its research in capture, transmission, processing and understanding of (medical) image, video and other high-dimensional data. It has developed numerous techniques in (medical) image analysis, computer vision and machine learning.

The position is externally funded by the EPSRC project, in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde, University College London and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The main aim of this post is to develop a lung cancer risk prediction model using causality learning to identify causal structures from data including clinical, medical history, demographics and CT image data. This involves three main stages including CT lung cancer detection and segmentation; causal risks of developing lung cancer identification; and synthetic image generation and visualization. You will have the opportunity to work closely with a team of researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to achieve these objectives.

Candidates should have a strong background and hold a PhD degree (or have submitted a PhD thesis) in a relevant discipline, and experience in medical image analysis, computer vision, and deep learning. Strong mathematical and coding skills are essential, and preferably some experience in open-source software development. Experience working with medical imaging data and causality learning is highly desirable.

As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to disseminate your research via international leading journals and conferences. You will be supported in your continuing professional development and will have access to a suite of training courses offered by the university on topics such as grant writing, project management, supervision, and leadership, with excellent opportunities for ongoing career development and progression.

The University of Lincoln has been recognised as one of the UK's most successful young universities, based in the beautiful and historic city of Lincoln. In the School of Computer Science, 83% of our publications were recognised as internationally excellent or world-leading in the national Research Excellence Framework 2021, ranking joint 9th in the UK for research impact.

Informal enquiries about the post can be addressed to Prof Xujiong Ye (email: [email protected]).
