The Newt in Somerset
The Newt in Somerset is a country estate with ancient woodland, historic gardens and far-reaching views; a new and unique destination with luxury hotel, spa, restaurants and an abundance of homegrown produce. Visitors can take a tour of the gardens, deer park and cyder press, dine in the Garden Café or browse our farm shops. Attracting some 200,000 visitors per year from all over the world, our vibrant and thriving garden attraction is animated throughout the seasons by special events, workshops and educational programmes.
Our Retail team
Our shops are an important part of the experience whist visiting The Newt, we offer a high-end retail experience with something to suit every pocket. Specialising in the sales of our own products including Cyder, apple juice, cheese, bakery produce. We also have a walk-in cheese room with the finest British cheeses, our butchery counter with its own Himalayan pink salt wall for aging meats from our estate and freshly harvested vegetables from our fields. Our House and Garden shop boasts produce from local artisan craftspeople. Everything has its own story to tell and enhancing the guest and retail experience day to day is something we strive for: you could be a part of that experience for our guests!
Shopkeeper
As the face of The Newt’s retail department, our shopkeepers are cheerful, energetic and hardworking. Visitors rely on the team for product knowledge and friendly service.
Key Responsibilities:

Greeting customers and making sure they have a great visit

Day-to-day operations of the shop including using the tills

Giving tasters to customers and talking about products

Stock rotation and wastage paperwork

Cleaning, stocking up and making displays
Skills and Experience
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar retail environment
-
Understanding of sales targets and results-driven attitude
-
Highly reliable
-
Team player, energetic, enthusiastic, and dynamic

Good communicator

Excellent customer service skills
-
Professional and well-presented
All product training will be giving on the job, but an enjoyment or passion for food is highly desirable.
