This is a new venture the Trust are beginning to help gain local talented individuals to help begin their nursing journey into healthcare and help support their neighbourhoods.

The candidate needs to be working towards the qualification as a Nurse Associate due to qualify in November 2023.

The criteria to apply is the;

Health and Social Level 3
GSCE C or above, 4 – 9, Maths and English (New GSCE Grading) OR Functional Skills Numeracy and Literacy Level

This is a fully funded course where you will have access to a wide range of support mechanisms whilst being able to learn on the job

Candidates must work 30 hours or more or can do so for the duration of the apprenticeship, which is 24 months. One day a week is a face-to-face university week and placements away over 24 months. (go to advert 5.6.2023)

Once you have successfully completed the 24 month course you will be eligible to apply for a band 4 Nursing Associate role (Current salary £25,147 - £27,596). You will also have the tools necessary to begin your full nursing training where the Trust will also fully fund and support you to achieve Level 6 (22 month degree course). Graduates can continue on the apprenticeship pathway to become a registered nurse.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Trainee Nursing Associate will develop a breadth of knowledge across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages in a variety of settings. They will gain the knowledge, understanding, skills attitudes and behaviours to become a registered practitioner as a Nursing Associate and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct.

The Training Nurse Associate will be required to work to the normal shift patterns of the team where placement is being undertaken.

Nursing associates contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users, and apply across all health and care settings. Integral to all of this is the ability to communicate effectively, with sensitivity and compassion, and to manage relationships with people.

The Trainee Nurse Associate is an apprenticeship program, which involves the development of skills using a work based model which requires attendance at the University 1 day a week whilst developing practical skills within the work place and linking theory to practice.

In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance ‘Understanding the new NHS’.

‘A nursing associate is a new member of the nursing team who will provide care for patients. This role is only being used and regulated in England. The role is intended to address a skills gap between health and care assistants and registered nurses. The nursing associate is a stand-alone role in its own right and will also provide a progression route into graduate level nursing. Nursing associates will be trained to work with people of all ages and in a variety of settings. It is intended that this new role will enable registered nurses to focus on more complex clinical duties.’ NMC (2018).

Will work closely with all nursing staff and the wider team, which includes workforce development staff, administration staff, therapists, and colleagues from other departments such as Pharmacy, Radiology, Pathology and Social Services. This list is not exhaustive and it is expected that there will be other key relationships, which will develop within this role.
