About Us

The Scotch Whisky Research Institute (SWRI) is the research and technology organisation funded by the UK distilling industry. Our UKAS accredited laboratory is based at Heriot Watt Research Park on the west side of Edinburgh where we carry out an innovative programme of research to support the Scotch Whisky industry through all stages of the production process. A priority for the Scotch Whisky industry is future sustainability and this is central to all our research. We are a focused scientific team with an outward looking attitude enabling us to work with the Scotch Whisky industry and its supply chain plus a wide range of other science providers.

About this job

Alongside developing laboratory skills and experimental design, the job will include scientific report writing, verbal presentation, data analysis techniques and technical consultancy to the industry. A full training programme will be given, tailored to meet your immediate and longer-term development needs depending on your background experience.
