About us

The post of Research Fellow is in the Cortical Processing Laboratory at University College London (UCL), a leading neuroscience laboratory led by Profs. Matteo Carandini and Kenneth Harris.

The post offers an exciting opportunity for research at the interface of computational and experimental neuroscience, in a project that seeks to reveal how neural activity is structured in brainwide patterns to support diverse behaviors in mice.

About the role

The successful applicant will join a team of scientists working on establishing the cortical circuits of vision, or the neural basis of audiovisual integration, or the state dependence of brain activity. They are expected to lead a vigorous research program in the context of the team, devoting efforts both to their own research and to the broader goals and needs of the team. They will study the activity of large populations of neurons in the mouse brain using a variety of techniques including Neuropixels recordings and optogenetics and applying a variety of analysis methods. They will take a leading role in all aspects of the projects, from designing and performing experiments, to data analysis, to the presentation and dissemination of the results.

This post is available from 01 January 2024 until 31 December 2025 in the first instance.

The salary offered for this post will be between £39,508 - £46,131 per annum depending on experience.
