The Best Western Plough & Harrow Hotel in Edgbaston, Birmingham is a privately owned 3 star 44 bedroom hotel close to the city centre. The hotel has a bar / restaurant, function & conference rooms. The company aims to employ outstanding individuals to be part of a small team delivering outstanding service to our customers. Hotel Host – The Best Western Plough & Harrow Hotel, Edgbaston, Birmingham

When guests arrive at our hotel the very first welcome they receive will often be from one of our Hotel Hosts.

The Hotel Host provides a critical role as it’s often the first opportunity to provide guests with impeccable service & make a positive impression for the hotel & the brand.

As a Hotel Host you will be a key member of a team delivering a seamless guest journey from pre-arrival to post departure. Using your initiative & flexibility to best manage the day to day running of the hotel with the other hosts, management & staff.
You will offer the most exceptional guest service possible and nurture a strong sense of pride in the products and services provided to guests. You will also be integral in ensuring a sense of community with colleagues across all areas of the hotel.

Our dream Hotel Host is essentially an ambassador, always reflecting our core values & going above & beyond to provide each guest with a first class & lasting service experience.

This is a role for a person who has a real & individual character, who speaks with a smile & has immense passion for delivering service.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcoming guests on arrival in warm, friendly & efficient manner

- Proactively assist guest’s with enquiries

- Respond to requests & anticipating any further queries guests may have

- Service of Food & Beverage throughout the hotel

- To have a full knowledge of the services and products the hotel offers

- Understand & implement company policies

- Performing daily tasks including checking guests in & out, serving drinks & food, ensuring public areas & bedrooms are clean, managing events & functions

Skills and Experience

- Personable, friendly, outgoing, reliable, loyal & trustworthy

- Flexible in terms of hours and tasks undertaken

- Good written and verbal communication skills

- A desire to get things right & have attention to detail

- Effective time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritise workload

- Self-motivated with initiative and genuine interest in guest satisfaction

- Problem solving skills, innovative & lateral thinking

- Team player and enjoy working in a team environment

- Microsoft office and basic computer skills

- Willingness to learn and work with a variety of systems

Package:

Wage £11.42 per hour + share of gratuities

35-45 hours per week depending on rota & business requirements

Contributory Pension Scheme (NEST)

Holiday equivalent to 28 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays)

Hours of work include shifts for 5 days out of 7, including early mornings (6.30am start), late nights finishes (up to 1am if events are taking place), weekends & public holiday

When on late shift you may be required to stay overnight in a staff bedroom to be on call for an emergencies. This would usually be 1 night ( max 2) per week

There may also be the opportunity for this to be an Live in position.

COVID-19 considerations:
All customers & staff are required to wear masks whilst working. Additional PPE is available when required. Sanitisation stations are situated around the hotel. Enhanced cleaning Ordering is via an online app reducing contact time with customers.
