About the role:
You’ll join our team, contributing to the delivery of the British Academy-Nuffield Foundation funded project: ‘Nature-Based Integration: Connecting Communities With/In The Natural Environment’. The project is led by Dr Davide Natalini (Anglia Ruskin), and Dr Azadeh Fatehrad (Kingston University). You can read about the project here. The Research Assistant will be based at ARU (Cambridge).

You’ll have a degree and ideally with a higher degree in Migration Studies/ Sociology/ Geography/ Ethnography or related discipline and research experience in the field of Migration Studies, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: integration, place, environment, and belonging. Fieldwork will be a vital part of this role.

You’ll be skilled in participatory research methods with good understanding of ethical issues in research. You’ll be able to demonstrate experience working in diverse community settings and demonstrate an ability to work sensitively with individuals from migrant backgrounds. Experience disseminating results and coordinating public events will also be a key part of this role.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating with the project team to help with designing and delivering qualitative, participatory, and creative research with migrant and non-migrant community members in fieldwork across three UK sites (London, Blackburn, Isle of Lewis) using methods such as surveys, participatory mapping, aesthetic workshops and participant observation
  • To assist producing academic, policy, practice, and public-facing outputs, including co-producing 'deep maps' of nature-based integration in case study sites
  • Ensuring inclusive and effective delivery of the project, including working closely with community researchers and project stakeholders
  • To assist with organising and running meetings, conferences, and public events
  • Maintain accurate records of project data, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects
  • Attend project meetings
  • Summarize work package progress
  • Other related duties as assigned
