Job Description Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, Science, technology field, or equivalent industry experience 5+ years of working directly with EASA and/or CAA on Type Certification or Airworthiness projects and familiarity with EU Basic Regulations and associated means of compliance and guidance materials for drones Experience developing certification artifacts within EASA and/or CAA regulations/requirements Experience working with commercial aviation aircraft certification and/or validation processes and procedures Experience in developing, contributing to, and/or maintaining processes, policies, and procedures Experience in aerospace systems engineering practices and complex system development lifecycle Amazon Prime Air is seeking an experienced Airworthiness/Certification Engineer. This role is part of our Regulatory Affairs team and responsible for executing projects and initiatives to support the integration of our airworthiness/certification processes for drones across Prime Air, with a focus in the UK. While this role can be done remotely in the UK we have additional remote and on-site location options for this role in Europe, including but not limited to: Graz, Austria and Luxembourg. Export Control License This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf. Key job responsibilities Developing airworthiness/certification deliverables (e.g. means of compliance documents, design verification reports) in collaboration with stakeholders. Partner with all Airworthiness Certification engineers to drive as much consistency as possible for efficient development of airworthiness/certification deliverables. Brief team on all relevant EASA guidance for design and certification of drones as well as regulatory changes Coordinating reviews and approvals of airworthiness/certification deliverables. Partner closely with various departments to develop and implement solutions to achieve regulatory approvals and airworthiness certification. Provide guidance on complex technical compliance related issues to achieve regulatory approvals and certification Partner with respective teams to strengthen overall compliance processes and system. Develop action plans for changes to certification processes and execute those plans through completion We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Cambridge, GBR Engineering/operations experience in civil/commercial/military drone operations 6+ years of relevant engineering experience with: SAE ARP4754A, ARP4761, Certification of Complex System Functional safety, systems safety, and design assurance processes (e.g. DO-160/178/254, 1309 design analysis) Experience with EASA guidelines for design verification of drones and special conditions for certification of light UAS (SC-LUAS) Experience with aviation technical standards groups (e.g. EUROCAE) Experience with certification processes, drone regulations (FAA, EASA, CAA, etc.) and compliance requirements Knowledge of challenges dealing with certifying autonomous drone systems Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) applications Drone Systems design, drone safety analysis, and/or certification Experience integrating business processes and applications Experience with requirements management systems Fluency in Spanish and/or Italian Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
