We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Assistant Psychologist to work across our 2 neighbouring Adult Mental Health services. There are 18 beds across the 2 services and they are only 2.5 miles away from each other.

Oswald House is a specialist residential service providing rehabilitation, care and support to vulnerable women with complex mental health issues. We want every individual we look after to feel as if they are being supported by a family member and to feel completely at home and at ease in our service.

Whalley Road is a specialist residential home providing nursing care, support and rehabilitation to adults with a mental illness or learning disability. Some of our residents stay with us longer-term, others just for a short time before moving on.

As part of our team you will be able to develop your skills, build amazing relationships with your patients and really be a part of their progress.

What you'll be working:

We can be flexible but you will work a total 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide a high standard of quality care under the supervision of a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Keeping people safe from any harm and protecting their human rights
  • Assist in the formulation of routine care plans involving the psychological treatment or management of the client’s condition under the direct supervision of a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Support the delivery of teaching and training to other members of the team
  • Attend and contribute to MDT meetings
  • Support the Practitioner Psychologists within the service on a day to day basis
  • Work within the professional practice and organisation guidelines
  • Assist with audit and research as required

What you'll have:

  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Psychologist is essential
  • BPS recognised Psychology undergraduate degree of 2:1 or above
  • High level communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to communicate at a high level information to patients, carers and colleagues in a way that addresses psychological resistance.
  • Understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with neurological problems or other disabilities.
  • Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a Neurological context
  • A theoretical framework in psychology
  • Good understanding of social science methodology and statistics
  • Excellent IT skills with an ability to use word processing, database and statistical software packages
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
