Position Summary
An exciting new opportunity has arisen within Global Supply Chain for a Project Engineer. You will be responsible for the management of a wide range of engineering projects, from initial design and authorisation through to procurement, installation and commissioning, with a strong focus on programme, budget and compliance. Projects are delivered across the full range of operational activities at GWR including bottling, spirit processing and warehousing, covering both equipment and infrastructure requirements. Although the role is based at GWR, the job holder will be expected to manage project activity at other UK sites as required. Whilst the role is aligned with the management and delivery of capital investment projects, the holder will also provide engineering and technical support for our Whisky Processing team at Great Western Road – helping to identify, develop, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, output and resilience of the system and associated infrastructure.
Job Description
Key Result Areas
  • Working with the Project Engineering Manager to successfully deliver our annual capital investment plans
  • Provide engineering support for the capital investment programme, providing specialist advice as appropriate, working with all members of the engineering team to incorporate new equipment and systems as required.
  • Establish a close interface with the manufacturing teams (bottling, whisky processing and logistics) and technical teams (quality, liquid quality, H&S, environment) to ensure effective and safe delivery of projects and improvement activities.
  • Ensure accurate and up to date technical information and drawings (layout, P&ID, electrical) aligned with projects and plant/ infrastructure modifications.
  • Ensure Edrington remain an industry leader in innovative process control and new technologies.
  • Support our sustainability strategy through implementation of best practice for energy efficiency and sustainable technologies and design.
  • Work with Project Engineering Manager and wider Engineering management team to horizon scan for opportunities to leverage new technologies, improve quality, efficient and resilience of current processes and ensure that we remain compliant with changes in legislation

Typical tasks & problems
  • Development of project initiation material including requirement specifications, engineering design, budget, and tendering.
  • Planning and implementation of project activity including the provision of Safe Systems of Work (Permits, Isolations, Risk Assessment and Methods).
  • Management of contractors/subcontractors during installation and handover of capital investment and repair & maintenance works.
  • Liaising with engineering and production colleagues to ensure the safe and effective delivery of work activities.
  • Ensuring that all plant and equipment is designed and delivered to meet legislative requirements.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant must be educated to degree or HNC/HND level (time served) and have a background in an appropriate Engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering). A detailed understanding of process and production environments, with analytical skills that include the ability to assess and interpret data with a systematic and logical approach is also essential.
