You will be a key team member, supported along the way whilst making an impact on what we do.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties & responsibilities:

Work with technical specialist responsible for delivering the Council’s Flood Risk Management duties as Lead Local Flood Authority.

Contribute towards the development of our internal policies, procedures and standards within the specialist area of flood risk management.

Work collaboratively across the organisation to build and develop our resilience to climate change and flood risk, including how we manage our network of assets.

Respond to consultations from the Local Planning Authority (LPA) on major and minor planning applications with regard to surface water drainage.

Commission flood investigations and the preparation of flood alleviation and drainage improvement schemes.

What we're looking for...

Great at prioritising and self-motivated individual, who is creative, innovative, and comfortable working to deadlines. Good communication skills are vital, as are the interpersonal skills it takes to work as part of a team and liaise with a wide range of professionals.

To succeed, you’ll need a degree in an appropriate discipline, knowledge of the Floods and Water Management Act, the Land Drainage Act and drainage design and construction experience. Confident in your ability to apply current government policies and design standards. You’re also adept at analysing information and producing coherent reports and recommendations on your specialist service area.
