Job Description

Main Purpose of the Role

Provide support across all relevant departments ensuring all core tasks are completed daily to a high level of accuracy and agreed time scales.

Maintain the integrity of SAP system data, ensuring transactional traceability for all product movements.

Manage and maintain the Repairables Query database. Processing requirements for Internal / External customers when required.

Proactive specialist support with reference to Repairable and Ghosting procedures / processes and actions

Cross functionality is essential.


Position in Organisation

This role is part of the Products business that reports directly to the MRP Manager, and subsequently Head of S&OP.


Dimensions, Authority & Risk

Some independence of action but duties largely fall within clearly defined range.


Management Of People & Advisory

There are no direct reports. Working within the Materials Controller Team. Responsible for providing updates and communicating to all Internal Customers.


Key Relationships

Liaise regularly with all customer types to resolve any issues relating to this role. Maintaining a strong working relationship with Repairable Assets Manager / Engineering / Procurement, Finance, Commercial and Forecasting.


Freedom To Act & Direction Received

The role is predominantly self-perpetuating with support from the MRP Manager, however final decision making would ultimately be with the Repairables Asset Manager. A structured framework of processes and procedures provides the way of working for most of the activities.


Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required

Self-motivated with excellent communication and problem solving skills and attention to detail.


Pressure & Working Environment

Hybrid working (a minimum of 3 days office based). Potential visits to Suppliers. Weekly review of the status within the Unipart warehouse (site visit) based in Hexthorpe, Doncaster, DN1 1QY. Stringent deadlines need to be achieved (particularly month end) and Customer requests.

Qualifications & Education

GCSE Qualifications – English & Maths.

“A” Level education or above would be desirable – due to the complexity of some of the duties required within the role.


Experience & Proven Ability Preferred

  • A good working knowledge of SAP.
  • Materials Management experience – of 3 years or more
  • Experience within a pressurised and responsive working environment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills across various departments
  • Good interpersonal skills – with the confidence and capability to present to working groups
  • Time management and work load prioritisation skills.
  • Self motivated to achieve targets and goals in order to achieve departmental and company objectives.
  • Application of the highest ethical standards in all dealings and transactions
  • Understand / analyse and take ownership of problems and initiate solutions
  • IT literacy (Microsoft Products – Word / Excel / Powerpoint). Google Docs / Mail.
  • To achieve and maintain a minimum of level 3 in the Unipart Way Competencies. Full training will be provided
  • To achieve and maintain agreed technical competency levels
  • Good business and commercial awareness

Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders drive improvements through regular meetings.
  • Develop internal working processes to reduce waste and achieve process improvements.
  • In addition to the above, you will be actively involved in assisting in the management of and driving through of a number of strategic projects and initiatives to support the Unipart Way.
  • As part of the Materials Controller Team positively contribute to achieving the business targets.
  • Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following appropriate Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate.
  • Report any accidents, hazards or dangerous/unsafe behavior to your line manager immediately.
