We’re looking for our first Project Assistant.
Are you experienced in supporting the ‘behind the scenes’ activity of small organisations? Do you want to use your skills to make a difference to the lives of local people? Are you passionate about the role of the arts in supporting people to live healthy and happy lives together?
Curious Motion is looking for a freelance Project Assistant to join our team. This is a brand-new role as we embark on our first multi-year project, tackling loneliness and isolation in Elland and the lower valley of Calderdale.
The role will involve supporting the smooth running of our work, including the administration and logistical elements, organisational development, and the delivery of our programmes and projects. You’ll be part of a small and friendly team, working closely with our Artistic Director/ CEO and founder Samantha McCormick (Sam).

Our team shares a strong drive for making real social change in our community through dance and the arts, and we’re looking for someone who is ready to get stuck in with us!

Key information:
- This is a freelance contract for 1.5 days per week. You must be registered with HMRC as self-employed and will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance payments.
- Fee is £125 per day, reviewed annually.
- This role is primarily to support our new project, running until the end of 2025, but we hope to continue the role beyond this point where possible.
- We don’t yet have our own space/ office so this role will require a mix of home-working and coming along to in-person activities at the different venues we use in and around Elland.
- You’ll be an important part of a small and friendly team that prioritises wellbeing and collaboration.
