The Magic of Life Butterfly House is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team from May/June to December 2023, with the chance to extend. As the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that vary throughout the year.
The list below is in rough order of priority of the tasks for this position.
1) Visitor Welcome – Fronting the butterfly house, till + engaging visitors with reception displays.
2) Administration – Book-keeping & accounts, Pay roll, Gift Aid entries, till receipts, banking money.
3*) Running Gift Shop *– Ordering, Pricing merchandise, keeping shop faced up and orderly.
4) Marketing – email campaigns, school, WI and horticultural groups. Direct marketing in town.
5) Plant & Livestock care – Feeding the butterflies, caterpillars, fish and other livestock and all sorts of gardeningjobs depending on other work.
6) Maintaining order and hygiene in the reception room, displays and generally on site.
7) Any other job needed to run the butterfly house successfully.
While experience in bookkeeping and accounts is preferred, all necessary training will be provided on the job. The position is five days a week, 7.5 hours a day, with at least one weekend day. There is also the possibility of job sharing depending on other candidates.
Please note that a private car is essential for this role. Salary is £11 per hour (£21,450 pro rata). All paid leave must be taken outside of the school holidays.
