An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our finance team in a newly created role of assistant accountant. Fylde Fresh and Fabulous LTD, established in 2005, are one of the UKs leading potato growing and processing businesses and we recently acquired an additional site to further strengthen our position in the market.This is a great time to join this growing and ambitious business.
We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join our small finance team to include tasks such as Management Accounts preparation, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Control. The role will report into our Finance Manager.
Key responsibilities of the role include –
Payroll
- Preparing & submitting monthly payroll for two companies
- Management of pension scheme – monthly contributions, joiners & leavers, communication with employees
Management Accounts
- Calculate accruals & prepayments.
- Prepare monthly journals.
- Inter-company balance reconciliation
- Support in the preparation of the weekly P&L
Cash
- Allocate all bank transactions on Sage daily.
- Complete daily bank reconciliation
- Petty cash – prepare monthly journal and complete count and reconciliation.
- Credit cards – monitor spend and prepare monthly journal.
VAT Returns
- Complete VAT returns for 3 companies
- Ensure VAT compliance and statutory return deadlines are met.
Accounts Receivable
- Provide cover for raising of sales invoices and reconciliation of invoiced sales to the production plans.
- Resolution of customer invoice queries & requests for information
- Ensure customer accounts remain within agreed terms, actively chasing outstanding balances.
Accounts Payable
- Support the internal invoice approval process, resolving queries and identify areas for improvement.
- Respond to supplier queries.
- Supplier statement reconciliations.
- Setting up new suppliers in Sage & verifying supplier bank details
- Prepare weekly payment runs.
Financial Control
- Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Maintain process documentation for all areas of responsibility.
- Educate wider team on all aspects of financial control.
Forecasts / Budgets / Projects
- Support the Finance Manager in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Business Partner other functions, providing financial guidance for regular business and for projects.
The candidate will be AAT qualified or studying towards their CIMA/ ACCA, with a minimum of 2 years previous experience and with strong Microsoft excel knowledge. Ideally, they will have previous experience using Sage accounting software and some prior experience of payroll.

This role is full time and available for immediate start, based at our production site at Stanley Villa Farm, Weeton, PR4 3HN.
