Salary: £32,020 to £34,722 Per Annum - Pro rata

Hours: 18.50 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Are you an experienced family support practitioner with a passion for working with children and families with a range of challenges? Are you able to demonstrate excellent skills at a specialist level, which will support and empower families to make positive changes? Do you understand the challenges families experience and have a creative approach to solving them? Have you experience of working alongside families where substance use is present? If so, you might be the person we are looking for.

The Role:

Reporting to the multi-agency leadership team, you will engage with families and young people to assess need holistically and work with them to develop sustainable solutions that improve their ability to achieve better outcomes for their children.

This post-holder will ensure that help is provided to families and young peoples in the most effective way to ensure that the improved outcomes are achieved, including reducing demand on statutory child protection services and other specialist services.

You will have specialist knowledge of young carers and interventions relating to this subject that you are able to demonstrate in practice and which will contribute to the Portsmouth 'Team Around the Worker' approach within the multi-agency teams

What you'll need to succeed

You will hold a nationally recognised qualification such NVQ level 5 or other higher level qualification or have equivalent experience. You will have specialist knowledge in Education and Wellbeing to ensure all information is relevant and applicable to the young people and families that are being worked with and be able to demonstrate high quality in this field. In addition, you will be able to advise, guide and influence other professionals within your specialist remit through a variety of means including supervision, mentoring or training.
