Job Description

Following a re-alignment of the way in which we deliver Information Services to Wrexham University's students and staff, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for two, part time, Academic Support Assistants.

The Information Services Directorate provides Digital Developments & Solutions, IT Infrastructure and Cyber Security, and Service Delivery to provide high quality and sustainable platforms, solutions, learning skills and library facilities that support, enable, and enhance the student and staff experience. This is all achieved by embedding the University’s values of being accessible, supportive, innovative, and ambitious in all that we do.

Reporting to the Academic Support Manager, the Academic Support Assistant will help to develop and deliver the academic and library services to staff and students across the Faculties of Art, Science and Technology, and Social and Life Sciences.

The successful candidates will assist the Academic Skills Tutors in the scheduling, preparation, and delivery of one-to-one, group and classroom academic skills sessions, and assist the Academic Support Librarians in ensuring the relevance of learning resources to support staff and students, including the purchasing, receipt and cataloguing of new books, journals and eResources.

Working as part of a small team you will help to meet service targets and deliver appropriate support with a proactive attitude to service delivery and high standards of customer service.

You will need to possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and have previously worked in a dynamic learning resources or academic skills environment. Good digital skills including a working knowledge of MS Office is also required, as is the ability to work flexibly to meet deadlines and be professional at all times. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

Both roles are part time, 3 days per week, and may be subject to job-share arrangements.

If you would like to know more about this role, informal enquiries can be made to Zoe Collyer-Strutt, Academic Support Manager. Email [email protected]
