The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Orkney is currently a small but rapidly expanding team. A significant investment from the Scottish government has helped CAMHS undergo redesign and a number of new additional posts are being advertised, substantially increasing the strength of the workforce, thus increasing the scope of services available locally to our children and young people. We work collaboratively with other local services and North of Scotland regional network.

Voted the best place to live in the Bank of Scotland Quality of Life Survey, for the eighth year in a row, Orkney is a fantastic place to live and work! 22,000 people call Orkney home, with most of those living in the Mainland, Orkney’s biggest island. Kirkwall is the largest town, a cathedral city with 7,500 people, and home to a large sports centre, large supermarkets, and high street and independent shops, as well as our brand new hospital.

This is a close-knit, friendly community, where crime is lower than anywhere else in the country, and where unrivalled culture and history rub shoulders with cutting-edge, modern industry.

NHS Orkney is recruiting a Band 4 CAMHS Medical Secretary to join the multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for an individual who is motivated, enthusiastic with the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines with excellent organisational skills.

The CAMHS Medical secretary will provide a high quality comprehensive secretarial and administrative service ensuring the effective and efficient running of the Team, while working under pressure with competing demands.

The successful candidate should have qualifications in business administration or secretarial services or equivalent and will also have relevant experience within secretarial service, will possess excellent skills in organisation, minute-taking, numeracy, audio and keyboard and be proficient in the working of email, spreadsheets and development and maintenance of databases and also have the ability to work as a member of a team or on own initiative with minimal supervision.

Come and live an unparalleled lifestyle in Orkney and make a real difference to our young people.

For informal discussion please contact Alison Stewart – Senior Administration Officer, Children & Families Services, Orkney Health & Social Care Partnership, on 01856 873535 extension 2618 or [email protected]
