Mill Road Surgery is currently looking for a part-time experienced healthcare assistant (HCA). Hours are part-time to start with, though there is the potential to be full-time in the future which will be assessed in due course by both the candidate and employer.
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Future training would also be available to potentially develop further skills within primary care and progression onto the Nursing Associate pathway if desired.
The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as:
- Wound care.
- Venepuncture.
- Administering of medicines and vaccines if trained to do so (training for this will be made available if so desired).
- Health checks such as new patient checks or pre-diabetes information gathering.
- Re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines.
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor surgery.
- Providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.
The post holder will predominantly see patients within the practice whilst also occasionally performing home visits.
The successful candidate will:
- be a dynamic, confident, self-motivated individual able to work autonomously and as part of the clinical team.
- have excellent communication skills.
- be able to work safely and effectively to guidelines.
Experience of using SystmOne clinical system would be advantageous but not essential.
We are a dispensing practice operating out of a purpose built surgery covering the North of Colchester and the surrounding villages. We continue to grow annually with new developments and currently have a list size of over 16,000. We regularly achieve excellent QoF achievement and patient feedback. We are also rated as Good across all domains by our latest CQC inspection. We are a SystmOne practice.
