About the role
We are looking to appoint a Laboratory and Administrative Assistant to work within the Oxford Centre for Histopathology in Research (OCHRe) team, in an administrative and technical capacity. You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital as your normal place of work.
This role focuses on two projects in particular: the JANUS project and the Articulate Pro Study. Duties will include providing general administrative support to the Principal Investigator and Programme Manager for the Articulate Pro Study, and taking overall responsibility for processing histology research requests and sourcing and auditing NHS consent forms, for the Janus project. You will also be responsible for carrying out a variety of histological techniques on non-diagnostic samples, including tissue processing, embedding, slide scanning and sectioning of paraffin embedded tissue in relation to the Janus project. Training in these skills can be given.
About you
To apply for this role you must be educated to at least A level or equivalent in Maths, English and Science. You should have the ability to plan and manage your own work schedule and be able to accommodate unexpected changes. The ability to follow protocols is crucial as are excellent IT skills, including experience of working at an advanced level with Microsoft Excel and Word, and attention to detail. Experience in general administrative tasks such as organising meetings, compiling meeting agendas etc. is also required. You will be expected to have strong communication (verbal and written) and organisational skills and be able to develop good working relationships across several teams.
This full-time post is available immediately and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance. We would also be willing to consider this role as an underfill at a grade 4 for less experienced candidates.
