Job description

We look forward to reading your application for the role of Personal Assistant.

The selected candidate will provide professional, efficient, proactive, confidential and comprehensive secretarial support to Tier 2 Departmental Head/s and when required, administrative assistance to their management team.

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Organising and prioritising meetings, events and diary appointments and prepare associated documentation and information as required.
  • Researching, collating and analysing information and preparing timely reports, briefing papers and presentations to aid understanding on a variety of sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Receiving, acknowledging and replying to internal and external correspondence documents in a professional and timely manner and redirect as necessary.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Previous relevant PA/secretarial experience or extensive administrative experience with a high level of organisational and planning ability, and attention to detail.
  • Experience in exercising discretion and initiative, tact and diplomacy in managing sensitive, personal and confidential matters.
  • Experience of scheduling meetings or events, preparing agendas and documentation, taking and drafting accurate minutes.

This role is available for as a fixed term appointment to all applicants, or as a secondment opportunity until 31 March 2024 to:

  • colleagues employed directly by the College or the Civil Service. Please note you will be required to obtain the written support of your line manager prior to submitting your application. Temporary promotion is available.
  • serving police staff at the equivalent rank of Constable who have their chief officer's approval. Chief Officer’s approval must be of NPCC rank, i.e., CC, ACC or DCC. Approval for a secondment must accompany an application.

Central service conditions may apply for police staff.
