Job introduction

We are looking to recruit an Operations Manager (applicants are required to be a Qualified Social Worker).

For an informal discussion, please contact Marcus Brooks - General Manager on 07825 862557

About the role

Brighton and Hove is a vibrant and exciting place to live and work and an opportunity has arisen to join the Hospital Discharge and Response Team (DART).

Both the acute hospitals and community arms of our wider team have seen their roles significantly evolve in recent years as we have been at the forefront of changes with the hospital’s Discharge to Assess model. This has meant our team work with people in the acute setting as well as those in community settings after a period of time in hospital. This can be either in health beds whilst the person is benefiting from rehab or in the person’s home. We also work with those who need support to prevent a hospital admission including playing a role at the front door of the hospital by working with our health colleagues in the Emergency Department.

We are a friendly and supportive team working in a busy environment; although working under pressure we maintain high professional standards of practice and are committed to ongoing professional development. The successful candidate will be expected to work across all settings.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team which is made up of 2 Operations Managers, Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, Care managers and Social Care Workers. The team works closely with system partners including University Hospitals Sussex, Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust and Sussex Community Foundation Trust so multi-disciplinary working is essential.

The candidate would need to have a strong leadership style in the social work field, have excellent communication skills and be solution focused under pressure and time constraints. A good understanding of performance and finance is also critical at this time of high demand.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and upload a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Supporting statement guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: We may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Please see Gov.uk for more information on the Skilled Worker Visa.

Part office / part home – hybrid - We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining.
