Compliance Auditor - Permanent Contract - 37 hours per week.
Salary: £27,384 per annum, rising to £27,849 per annum, and again to £28,500 per annum in two annual increments.

The Crime Standards Department is looking to recruit a Compliance Auditor under the management
of the Force Crime and Incident Registrar.

Compliance Auditor’s play a pivotal role in ensuring the force’s crimes and incidents are recorded
accurately. The management and audit of information are key elements that allow the force to
meet its strategic priorities; execute legal obligations, common law functions and ensure compliance
with National policies (such as National Crime Recording Standards, National Standard of Incident
Recording, Ministry of Justice Guidance and Force policy).

This is crucial to ensuring victims of crime are afforded the services that they are entitled to; that
demand can be appropriately measured; crime volumes and patterns can be analysed and accurate
statistical data can be provided to the Home Office and to the public including the outcomes of
offending .

The successful applicant will be expected to audit records held on police systems including STORM
Command and Control and NICHE RMS and includes assessment of reports provided within crime
files to ensure that the integrity of our crime data is of the highest standard and that an appropriate
crime outcome can be applied.
The role does require the auditor to review some reports where the circumstances of victim’s
disclosures may be distressing particularly surrounding offences of a sexual nature or through
agency reports involving children or vulnerable adults.

The post holder will be expected to analyse data, provide written reports and ensure that
appropriate feedback is given to staff who have not reached the required standards. The post
holder will also act as a point of contact to provide guidance and expertise to officers and staff.
It is essential that applicants have the ability to work to tight deadlines, deal with complex recording
standards, be able to work unsupervised but also as part of a team and to be flexible with an ability
to adapt to changes in legislation, recording rules and working practices. Communication skills, both
written and spoken is an essential part of the role as you will be providing expert recording guidance
and feedback to police officers and staff.

Crime recording and disposal is a highly complex area and would ideally suit a candidate with
previous crime recording or crime investigation experience, although not essential.
This is a full-time position (37 hrs) providing flexible/agile working opportunities (based in Devizes or
Swindon).
