Responsible for assisting the civil engineering team of a design and build contractor in all aspects of design and construction work through pre-construction and construction stages. Working on a variety of civil [rail] and building projects with a view to providing cost effective solutions through collaborative working with the Global Rail Construction Limited (GRCL) tender project teams, clients, specialist design subcontractors, other subcontractors, suppliers and relevant third parties.
Your role will require preparation of calculations, structural investigations, reports, Network rail Form 1,2 & 3’s. Site surveys and inspections.
Skills and Experience
The role is ideally suited to a graduate with a keen eye for detail and practical ability. To be considered for a role, you will need to demonstrate the following credentials
- Have graduated or expecting to graduate with at least a 2:1
- 2 Years post graduate experience preferred but not essential
- Civil Engineer with the intention to progress to a professional qualification
- Experience in a civil engineering or building environment
- Recent experience of working as part of a team on civil engineering design & construct project exercises at university
- Demonstrable experience with cad drawing packages
- Site surveying experience preferred.
- Thorough understanding and working ability in Microsoft Office applications.
- Interest in the commercial factors applicable to tendering and value engineering
- Understanding and working knowledge of NR Standards, Eurocodes & HAS guidelines.
- Team worker able to work together as a team for the Group, not just the individual.
- Technical, analytical, and numerical design ability.
- Outstanding communication skills and demonstrable presentation skills.
- Driving license & flexibility to travel throughout the UK as & when required.
- Knowledge of Network Rail design & build processes and Standards.
