Job Description You will join the Luton site of Bedfordshire Hospitals at an exciting time in our development of our new midwifery workforce. You should be highly motivated in the education and support of all newly qualified midwives(NQM)and international recruits (IM). Bedfordshire Hospitals Trust has been at the forefront of recruiting overseas midwives with a current cohort of 31 midwives at various stages of their education and support in to the midwifery workforce You will be able to work across all clinical areas in order to provide support, education and training to our newly qualified and internationally recruited midwives. The Clinical Practice Facilitator Midwife for preceptorship and retention will Lead on the support of NQMs and IM's in practice through all areas of maternity, ensuring a smooth transition to Band 6. Facilitate practice learning to the highest quality through teaching, assessing, administration and practice-based work whilst supporting the Trust’s Clinical Governance Agenda. Work in close collaboration with external agencies (Pan East of England clinical facilitators), with the clinical and organisational multidisciplinary team of the Trust and link with Higher Education Institutions to influence educational strategy. Able to work flexibly and work all shift patterns for the requirements of training and supporting practice development. The Facilitator will be a proficient, approachable role model in addition to an expert clinician in the field of Midwifery, with a proven track record of clinical achievement. Assessing the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments and propose interventions for improvement Developing and maintains links with University to support mentor and practice education. Facilitating clinical training in practice and in the classroom setting for both students and qualified staff. Contribute to the facilitation of continuing professional development for NQMs/IMs. Play a pivotal role in education provision within the Maternity department, maintaining a visible presence in the clinical areas at all times. They will work closely in the midwifery education team to contribute to the facilitation of continuing professional development for midwives, maternity support worker and maternity care assistants. Working with senior midwifery team and multidisciplinary Team in taking forward and shaping the future of midwifery practice in the light of the local, national and professional agenda. Play a pivotal role in education provision within the Maternity department, maintaining a visible presence in the clinical areas at all times. Able to work flexibly and work all shift patterns for the requirements of training and supporting practice development. The Facilitator will be a proficient, approachable role model in addition to an expert clinician in the field of Midwifery, with a proven track record of clinical achievement. Working in all areas within the Maternity department to include: Labour Ward, Triage, Ward 31, Ward 32, Ward 33, Day Assessment Unit, Antenatal Clinic and the Community Base to provide clinical support and practice based learning. Work towards ensuring the development and dissemination of the clinical guidelines and audit quality improvement strategy and will work with agreed clinical services, specialities and professional groups to develop; plan, guide, support and report on related activities. The post holder will work with the Maternity team to ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained. Work towards ensuring clinical quality, clinical effectiveness and priorities for improving patient clinical outcomes remain one of the top priorities within the clinical area and department and shall facilitate and support the adoption of this culture.
