In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluation, UCL Computer Science was ranked second in the UK for research power and first in England. UCL Computer Science carries out research, undergraduate, and postgraduate teaching across all areas of theoretical and applied computer science.

About the role

This is an opportunity to join the Department of Computer Science, UCL to work as a Research Fellow for a project investigating how humans process loudness information. The role will involve setting up an EEG system for recording of auditory evoked potentials, collecting EEG data and analysing EEG data. Responsibilities will also involve managing recruitment of participants and working with a team of researchers and academics.

This is a fixed-term role with funding available until 02/07/24 in the first instance.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £35,702- 38,514 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis. Please note: You will be expected to undertake Fire Evacuation Marshall training if appointed at grade 7.

About you

The applicant should have research experience in human EEG acquisition and analyses (PhD in Psychology/Biophysics/Physics or related degree). Preferably, experience of working in the field of auditory perception. They should also be able to demonstrate the ability to set up and maintain EEG equipment, and run participant EEG studies as well as analyse EEG data using appropriate software/modelling techniques.

Qualifications, experience and knowledge:
