Job Description
We’re looking for an organised and enthusiastic Accommodation Officer to join the friendly team at our established English language school in York city centre.
This will be a busy and interesting role with varied responsibilities. You’ll be placing our international students in homestay accommodation, so you’ll enjoy getting to know people and you’ll be sensitive to the needs of students from other cultures. You won’t necessarily need experience in this type of position, but you will be hardworking, positive, and flexible, and you’ll definitely need good computer skills and a confident telephone manner.
As our Accommodation Officer, you will:
· arrange suitable homestay accommodation for students from across the world coming to York to study English, ensuring that homestays are selected to best meet the needs and requests of each individual.
· Maintain positive working relationships with homestay providers, communicating with them regularly and professionally.
· Develop good relationships with students during their stay in York and support their welfare as required.
· Liaise with academic management staff to monitor student satisfaction with their accommodation provision on a regular basis, sensitively troubleshooting any issues as they arise.
· Keep accurate records of homestay providers and students, including financial recordkeeping.
This role is a full-time, office based, position from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. The role may also require carrying out some occasional out of office hours paid activities (meeting groups for example) on a rota basis with other staff, subject to prior agreement.
