On joining our programme in September 2023, you will rapidly gain knowledge of how our company works, what motivates us and how you can make innovative contributions to our projects, helping us build a more connected and sustainable world.

Jacobs is offering a great opportunity for a talented Graduate Electrical Engineer with an interest in design and construction to join our growing teams. Working for Jacobs Energy and Power team, you will gain experience working on major substation and underground cable schemes throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from feasibility through to detailed design.

You will be predominantly based in our offices in London, Bristol and Birmingham. You will have involvement in live projects with the support of a large multidisciplinary design team. The role will provide you with opportunities to train, grow and progress in a direction that suits your own particular skillset and interests.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare outline and detailed electrical engineering designs and calculations.
  • Typical designs include one-line diagrams, protection and control schematic development, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
  • Produce technical and commercial specifications, drawings and schedules
  • Working closely and collaboratively with the commercial and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
  • Preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments

You will positively engage with the Client, managing relationships and adopting a One-Team approach to support them in achieving their aims Candidate Specification We are looking for a flexible and motivated graduate with a genuine passion for learning and professional growth.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Be working towards achieving a 2:1 or above in a degree relative to electrical engineering (BEng) or a post graduate qualification (MSc) and must have a strong interest in the Power sector.

  • To be a flexible and innovative self-starter who brings a curious mindset to finding solutions for real-world problems

  • The adaptability to learn, unlearn and reprioritise as things around you change

  • You must have the permanent right to work in the UK.

We want you to bring your whole, authentic self to Jacobs - have you travelled around the world? Worked in a bar? Been captain of a sports team or volunteered for a charity? Tell us - we’re looking for people with interesting stories and experiences!
