Job Description
Salary/Hours: Starting at £2,348.32 per year for a 4-hour week - dependent on qualification and experience (HBS Grade 4 pay spine 1). 4-hour week - on a pre-planned monthly schedule, which will include some evening and weekend work.
Main Base/Area: Main base: Sutton House, Wylde Green, although this role will be predominantly based in the community, across Birmingham and Solihull and occasionally further afield.
Headway Birmingham & Solihull are a leading ABI – Acquired Brain Injury Charity.
We are looking for a confident, caring individual with an understanding of disability and a good sense of humour and ideally an interest in sport/wellbeing.
The Services For All Helper role is a really rewarding role, the focus of this role is supporting brain injured adults and their families to join in with community activities, social groups, lunch clubs, some online activities and sports activities.
Duties include: -
1. Organise and control and facilitate the day-to-day activity programme within agreed policies and procedures, ensuring the plan is user led
2. Update records after sessions, including attendance, incidents and inform facilitator of any issues. Monitor outcomes of any members in preparation for funding reports.
3. Escort clients in your own private vehicle to activities in the community from time to time as required, and drive minibus (if applicable)
4. Ensure that activities are risk assessed and visited for appropriateness and that members are fully aware of their own responsibilities.
5. Develop networks and partnerships with sports/event providers and other disabled groups/Headways in the community to run specialist and joint activities.
6. Develop competitive sports for our members, monitor scores for achievement ceremony in April.
Experience and requirements: -
· NVQ2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent/willing to take within the first 2 years of being in role)
· Willing to undertake all required training/induction for the role, which will require at least 2 full weeks (weekdays, daytime).
· Previous experience of working with people with disabilities and knowledge of brain injury is desirable, but not essential.
· Although driving is not a requirement of the role, we welcome anyone who is trained and willing to drive our minibus to assist with transporting clients to community activities (D1 required).
The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS, the cost of which will be met by the employer.
