Job Description

The NSPCC is further expanding its national offer with a new, UK-wide service targeted specifically at supporting young people experiencing loneliness. The Building Connections service matches trained befrienders (staff or volunteers) with a young person over a set number of sessions, with the goal of increasing a young person's resilience to feelings of loneliness and strengthening their overall support networks. The service will operate Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm, and has a particular focus on being accessible to young people from diverse, marginalised and/or minority backgrounds.

We are currently recruiting for two, fixed term Team Manager posts until the end of March 2025.

The Team Manager role will be integral to the success of this service. The post-holder will lead the growth, development and support of a geographically dispersed team of staff and volunteers with overall responsibility for the operational delivery of the NSPCC Building Connections Service.

They will:
  • Provide line management and supervision to ensure practice standards and principles of safeguarding are maintained at all times.
  • Participate in a Duty Manager rota to provide advice, guidance and support on operational and safeguarding matters relevant to this service.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of a volunteer recruitment strategy
  • Facilitate the growth of the service through outreach activities and by acting as a key representative to external partners.

We are looking for individuals who have:
  • A strong management background with comprehensive safeguarding experience.
  • A creative and enthusiastic approach to working with others to shape processes and service delivery.
  • A passion for delivering front-line services for children and young people.

Applicants are asked to provide a supporting statement (10,000 character limit) that shows how their experience and skills match each of the points listed in the person specification. If you have any questions, please reach out for an informal conversation with Adeniyi Alade (Service Head - Childline) on [email protected]

As an organisation, we are committed to creating and fostering a culture that promotes safeguarding and the welfare of all children and adults at risk. Our safer recruitment practices support this by ensuring that there is a consistent and thorough process of obtaining, collating, analysing and evaluating information from and about candidates to ensure that all persons appointed are suitable to work with our children and adults.
Annually:£37,522 - £42,639 Home working allowance, Rota allowance and/or London weighting where applicable
    Region:Flexible & home working
Location:United Kingdom - Remote or Flexible location
    Department:Childline
    Vacancy Type:Fixed Term
