About the department

Registry sits within the Student and Academic Services Directorate alongside Academic Services, Access, Participation, and Student Success, Careers, Student Advice and Wellbeing, and Student Experience, Engagement and Retention.

The Registry is responsible for the central elements of student administration for the School, with specialist teams including Assessment and Progression, Curriculum and Quality Assurance, Fees and Funding, Student Records, Student Strategic Initiatives, and Visa Compliance.

About the Role

Student Administration Officers will be the first point of contact for the delivery of a professional service to students and staff. They will have a comprehensive understanding of School policies and procedures and broader HE issues.

They will be responsible for processing student enrolment changes and funding applications for all SOAS programmes (including UG, PGT and PGR, both on campus and online/flexible learning, and those delivered via partnership and validation arrangements), ensuring the accuracy of the student record and of tuition fee invoicing.

They will be able to work across all areas of the team’s work while being able to specialise in particular areas which might include categories of student (e.g. online, transnational, research) or of activity (relating to fees, funding, enrolment, etc.).

All members of staff are required to be aware of the SOAS environment and to be active in communicating and cooperating with other staff and departments; this includes assisting with other tasks as required. They need to be prepared to work in accordance with the equality and diversity plan, comply with health, safety, and safeguarding rules and abide by all guidelines, procedures and policies.
