Job Description

Do you want to create positive and inclusive research environments and support excellence in biomedical research?
The University of Oxford’s Medical Sciences Division is offering a new opportunity to accelerate progress in improving research culture. This is an exciting role with varied and stimulating responsibilities to shape and deliver research culture initiatives that will deliver positive changes for our researchers and an outstanding research environment.
The University is committed to improving research culture, and numerous initiatives are now underway to further develop how we recognise the different skills and roles that contribute to research, support the career aspirations of our colleagues, and ensure that our research is conducted to the highest standards. This new role will place you at the forefront of innovation and progress in this growing, high-priority area.
As the Research Culture Project Officer, you will have a crucial role in identifying and sharing good practice, collaborating to plan and deliver new programmes, and expanding our capacity to support practical initiatives to improve research culture across the Medical Sciences Division. You will work closely with colleagues in a wide range of roles in the Medical Sciences Divisional Office, Medical Sciences departments and beyond.
To succeed in this role, you will need excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders in a complex and distributed environment. Strong project management and organisational skills will also be essential for delivering a broad ranging and impactful research culture programme. You will be action oriented, collaborative, and passionate about building positive and equitable research cultures and supporting excellence in research.
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:
  • An excellent contributory pension scheme
  • 38 days annual leave
  • A comprehensive range of childcare services
  • Family leave schemes
  • Cycle loan scheme
  • Discounted bus travel and season ticket travel loans
  • Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs
This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working.
This is a full-time post (or a minimum of 0.6 FTE will be considered), offered on a fixed-term basis for three years. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact Mary Muers [email protected]
You will be required to upload your CV and supporting statement as part of your online application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one.
The closing date for your application is 12 noon on Friday 23rd June 2023.
Interviews are anticipated to take place on Thursday 13th July and will be in person.
