Job Description

Leeds and York NHS Partnership foundation Trust are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Health Support Workers to join our team. We are currently recruiting to our inpatient service within both Becklin Centre and Newsam Centre.

The Acute Inpatient Service and PICU consists of 4 wards at the Becklin Centre and 2 wards at the Newsam Centre which Centre which provide care for people experiencing acute mental health issues.

The successful candidates will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing high quality care and treatment of clients within the inpatient service based at the male and female wards within Becklin Centre and Newsam Centre. We are looking for individuals who are;

A flexible approach is required as the post involved working flexibly over a 24 hr / 7 day period.

We will offer you an induction and a continuing written appraisal and the opportunity to complete the care certificate, supported by regular supervision.

You will be supported in your personal and professional development via clinical supervision, training and other Continuing Professional Development opportunities.

As a Health Support worker, you will be expected to work with patients, carers and Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide care to people with mental health needs.

The successful candidate will be positive and enthusiastic in your approach, calm and confident when dealing with the needs of the service users. You will have excellent communication skills, and will show that you have the ability to form and sustain therapeutic relationships with people with mental health needs.

You will be able to demonstrate genuine interest in mental health and be committed to involving service users in all aspects of their care. The role requires candidates to support the care, assessments, interventions and activities for service users.

You will have the energy to work hard in a very active and busy inpatient care environment.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. This post requires shift work as we provides support over a 24/7 basis. You must be able to work a variety of shifts including nightshifts, weekends and public holidays.
