We are seeking an Assistant Psychologists to join our 16-25 Transitions Team based across all BaNES, Swindon & Wiltshire (BSW) CAMHS .

This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to get a broad experience of working in a CAMHS service prior to pursuing a career in clinical psychology.

The post is part time and will involve working alongside our amazing but busy multi-disciplinary teams including clinical psychologists. The post will include working with the BSW CAMHS teams and Participation Lead; however, the post holder will also have dedicated time in their job plan to work within our 16-25 Transitions Team. Supervision will be provided by a qualified clinical psychologist.

The base for this post will be with Melksham CAMHS however at times there will be a need to travel to different sites across BaNES, Swindon & Wiltshire, including schools and patients’ homes.

The role will include supporting the team by gathering and collating relevant information relating to the assessment process by speaking with parents, schools and other relevant professionals as needed. Under supervision there will be an opportunity to be directly involved in joint assessments with children and young people and family members. This may also involve working closely with the BSW Participation Group.

Under regular supervision from a Clinical Psychologist, you will develop skills to support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, across all sectors of care; supporting consultation to other professionals and agencies, providing psychological assessment and brief psychological interventions.

In addition, you will support the service in collection of routine data and create reports for commissioners and assist in the development of service evaluation within the service. Previous experience of the above is desirable.

You will work with colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team and so should be able to demonstrate the ability to do so. The role will also involve participation in audit, service evaluation and service development projects.

The 16-25 CAMHS Transitions Team is a small and supportive team of 5 highly experienced Clinicians including a Family Therapist, Nurses and an Assistant Project Manager. Although the role is a supportive one and at times can involve data collection and audit. The role itself does allow Assistant Psychologist to be trained in several areas of assessment and Multi-Agency Consultation that other roles would be unable to offer.

You would be offered Clinical Supervision as well as access to Group Supervision with other Assistant Psychologists across the trust. As a Team we prioritise meeting altogether at least once monthly to support wellbeing and cohesion. You should have a Psychology degree (2.1 or higher) or a higher degree and experience working with young people or in a mental health setting. You will have a genuine interest and experience in working with young people with mental health problems. In addition, you will demonstrate good communication skills, be very organised, flexible and IT literate (proficient with MS Office, including basic MS Excel abilities).

We will need you to work 30 hours per week.

Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
