Are you looking for work that is truly fulfilling? Do you want a job where your influence will continue long after your shift ends? Could you support adults with a learning disability to live more independently?
In Emerson Valley you will help to support James*, a gentleman in his early 30s who enjoys doing a wide range of activities, such as swimming, yoga, meditation, walking and shopping. One of James’ favourite pastimes is visiting the High Wycombe Air Park to look at planes.
At home, James likes to unwind by using his IPad, solving jigsaw puzzles, listening to BBC Radio 4 and connecting with his family. Family is extremely important and you will help James to maintain contact and accommodate weekly support visits, where possible.
James is non-verbal and will often lead staff towards certain areas of his home in order to express certain feelings and needs, for example, he will take staff to the kitchen when he is hungry or thirsty. In return, James responds well to short phrases, yes or no questions, sign and body language.
James has a diagnosis of autism so it is important that we respect his personal space and try our best to maintain his routine. An interest in this field would also be beneficial.
