The Role:

The number of archaeological finds across the UK has been increasing steadily which creates exciting opportunities for learning and research, but also many challenges in storing and managing the data. The British Museum is looking for a Product Manager to help redesign the national Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), the flagship mechanism for recording treasure and archaeological finds made by the public across England & Wales.
You will be working at the forefront of discovery and play a key role in redesigning each stage of the programme, from building bespoke process, to development of the nationwide database, to website design. The candidate will have the chance to work with stakeholders across the country, from Museum Archivists and Archaeologists, to Software Developers and Data Architects, to Metal Detectorists and Treasure Registrars.

About You:
We are seeking driven individual with the ability to own a complex and dynamic programme with significant national visibility.
- You will be highly organised with the ability to manage several moving parts of project in tandem. Able to work with numerous stakeholders to plan and manage resources
- You will have demonstrated ability to manage conflicting timelines and work to meet deadlines
- You will have excellent communications skill, both orally and in writing. You will be able to clearly articulate existing business challenges, findings, and recommendations through written reports and oral presentations.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and the ability to carefully evaluate and balance, sometimes conflicting, needs of stakeholders against the overall strategy
- You will have strong analytical skills with the ability to translate stakeholder business needs into application and operational requirements, and communicate these effectively with technical developers
- The ideal candidate will also have multi-year experience of bringing functionality to market by working with outsourced software development teams
- Related experience in product management such as Scrum Masters and Agile Product Owner are desirable
About the Role:
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the redevelopment of the PAS technical ecosystem from start to finish within an Agile frameworkthe finds.org.uk site

- Consulting with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the product’s strategic goals are clarified and understood
- Ensuring product user needs, wants and concerns are captured through consultation and community engagement
- Refining and developing product scope and define formal requirements to support the rebuilding of the product
- Developing user stories and map user journeys
- Researching and analyse market, the users, and the roadmap for the product
- Providing product leadership across several disciplines during the consultation, design and build inc. delivery, UX/UI, technical, UAT
- Assisting in the evaluation of external digital software developers and selection of a development partner through a tender process
- Communicating the product vision and direction to the software development team and stakeholders throughout the project
- Creating a development roadmap
- Working with strategic technology partners to formulate opportunities for future features and product growth
