Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Family Nurse (30 hours) to join our existing team. We require a highly skilled, motivated, reflective, caring and committed nurse who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people and children. You will also need a deep affection for learning, team working and developing new skills. You will be required to develop high level generalist and specialist skills to work within the clinical methods of this structured programme. Developing therapeutic relationships with clients is integral to this role as well as being able to manage highly complex family situations to achieve the expected outcomes of the programme.

This role is responsible for delivering the FNP intensive, preventive home visiting programme to vulnerable, hard to reach young women who are expecting their first baby. Postholders will be required to develop high-level generalist and specialist skills to work within the clinical methods of the structured programme. Family nurses will be expected to develop therapeutic relationships with clients and work intensively within complex family situations to achieve the expected outcomes of the programme.

The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is a national evidence-based programme. The aim of the programme is to improve the antenatal health, child health and development and parents’ economic self-sufficiency in disadvantaged young families.

This role is responsible for delivering the FNP intensive, preventive home visiting programme to vulnerable, hard to reach young women who are expecting their first baby. Postholders will be required to develop high-level generalist and specialist skills to work within the clinical methods of the structured programme. Family nurses will be expected to develop therapeutic relationships with clients and work intensively within complex family situations to achieve the expected outcomes of the programme.

This is a demanding specialist role requiring high levels of professional skills and practice and the ability to work as part of a team In addition to work with families, the post holder needs to be able to share the FNP knowledge and skills to the wider workforce. Developing and delivering training is a key aspect of this role.

A requirement of the post is that the Family Nurse attends individual weekly supervision and weekly team meetings. Residential training is provided by the National Unit, and it is essential that applicants are available and willing to attend the training required for this role.
