Job Description
You will learn on the job a range of practical skills and knowledge including but not limited to;
- bathing
- drying & preparing a range of dogs as part of their groom
- handling dogs daily
- conducting health checks
- learning the procedures of a working salon & learning about health & safety along with dog grooming regulations.
As you become more proficient at preparing dogs within their groom, you will also learn;
- how to safely clip dog’s nails
- clip areas of the dog’s coat including sanitary areas & paw pads & trim areas using scissors.
You will be working alongside your supervisor to;
- clean and maintain the dog grooming environment
- cleaning and sanitising the tools and equipment after every dog’s groom.
You be responsible for adding your own notes to the dog’s that you help groom using the appointment software and you will be contributing to our social media pages and taking photographs/videos.
You will be required to complete a learning portfolio as part of the level 2 qualification and attend frequent online meetings with your training consultant.

Desired Qualifications
- Ability to complete functional skills if you do not have the equivalent GCSE passes
Future Prospects
- Opportunities for a full-time position as a Dog Groomer at Doggie Styles. Opportunities to undertake a Level 3 Qualification for career progression when available.
Training Provider
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Dog Grooming Apprenticeship Standard.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship
