A fantastic opportunity to become involved in our Cannock Mental Health Support Teams to deliver timely and evidence-based help to children, young people and their families within the school setting. You will be overseeing and supervising education mental health workers to support their professional development. This will be individual and group supervision/reflective practice and clinical skills. You will work therapeutically with children and their families, providing support and treatment.
To provide evidence based CBT-informed supervision to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs).
You will act in support of the MHST Team Leader, deputising and carrying out delegated roles, duties and responsibilities as required.
You will provide formal and informal education, training and supervision to other members of the team and other disciplines if identified as a need.
The MHSTs deliver evidence based interventions, supporting emotional wellbeing, primarily in an educational setting. Under supervision of this post, support staff will be delivering full assessments of care needs, risk assessment and evidence based interventions.
The service will be available Monday to Friday 9-5pm, though there may be times when workshops or community work are required after school, evenings or at weekends and it is essential that you are flexible. Youwill maintain managerial responsibility for the team caseload; overseeing referrals and the allocation of clients. You will also manage a clinical role and/or a caseload dependent upon locality need.
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining team systems and processes for the effective operation of the team including outcome measurements, audit and annual service policy review.
You will act in support, with fellow Team Leaders in providing clinical leadership and advice across the MHST.

- To provide evidence based CBT-informed supervision to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs).
- Provide formal and informal education, training and supervision to other members of the team to include other services such as schools.
- To work with a defined caseload of service users as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), providing assessment, care planning and care delivery for service users with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This will include the provision of highly skilled professional care, psychological interventions, group work, clinical assessment, risk assessments / risk management, and promoting recovery and inclusion.
- Ensure co-production with service users, families and carers and the education staff.
- To provide specialist advice / consultation and guidance to school mental health leads, team members and trainees.
- To liaise with all members of the MDT, schools and outside agencies in the implementation of early intervention.
- To ensure that interventions are evidence based.
- To provide an all age inclusive service, focussing on early identification and rapid response that supports effective clinical decision making and education of education staff.
- Participate in risk assessment and risk management activities.
- To contribute to the development of ideas and innovative practice and propose changes to protocols and procedures within the MHST and CAMHS where required.
- To shape and influence developing referral pathways and access.
- Provide a flexible service, with occasional evening and weekend working to facilitate parent pyscho-education and community activities.
- To perform other duties as may be necessary for the development of other services and the requirements of the changing service.
- Ability to demonstrate a range of assessment skills.
- To provide clinical leadership to staff working within multi-disciplinary teams in order to assess, develop, deliver and evaluate effective programs of care
- To assist the Team Manager in the effective management of the function and to act up in their absence
- To provide effective clinical supervision to staff within the team, mentoring individuals and groups around the chosen area of clinical practice
- To maintain continuing professional development by engaging in the appraisal system, clinical supervision and through specific mentorship provided by a member of the senior clinical team
- Participate in and lead junior staff in the continuous improvement of services through the Trust’s approach to service redesign and quality improvement
- To support others in their continuing professional development by delivering appraisal and supporting the development of PDP’s with individuals.
- Provide supervision to trainees and maintain accurate and up to date records in line with Trust policy.
- Use clinical leadership skills to maintain an environment of high quality care and treatment
- Organise the work of others to promote a responsive timely service that ensure children, families and carers receive high quality care and treatment as determined by their care plan
- Maintain an up to date understanding of staffing capacity ensuring that the deployment of staff and resources is planned and as far as possible maintained within budgeted levels. Authorised signatory for budgets.
