Permanent contract | £9,798 to £10,738 per annum (Scale F) | 14.8 hours per week (Thursdays and Fridays) | County Hall, Norwich

The County Council is responsible for ensuring that the Senior Coroner has the resources and support to deliver an excellent Coroner’s service for the people of Norfolk. The Senior Coroner and Area Coroner are supported by Coroner’s Officers, who undertake investigations, and by a team of support staff. We are seeking a part time Coroner’s Support Officer.

Working as part of a small team you will be the first point of contact for families and partner organisations within the Coroner’s Service. You will provide an efficient administrative and support service to the Coroner, Area Coroner and Coroner’s Officers in line with statutory and operational requirements. Creating paperwork before and after court hearings and ensuring documentation is sent in a timely manner, the support team also issue jury summons and prepare Treasure inquests for the Coroner. You will need to be friendly and work well in a team where you help each other to manage the workload.

We are looking for someone who is experienced in dealing with the public following a bereavement and can offer a sensitive and compassionate service professionally. You will need to be organised and able to prioritise your work, with the ability to deal with interruptions. Confidentiality is essential in the sensitive environment of the Coroner’s Service. Resilience is required to cope with situations and material of a potentially distressing nature, along with the ability to work in a high-pressured environment.

Good IT skills are essential. The post will require you to work from home as well as in the office.

Based at the Coroner’s Office in County Hall, Norwich, this is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team in a key role supporting the operations of the Senior Coroner for Norfolk.
