Head of Communications and Marketing
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, creative professional to lead our award-winning Communications and Marketing Department to develop the strategic direction for all marketing and communications activity across York Museums Trust. With strong journalistic experience and excellent people management skills, you will play a critical role in supporting YMT become a truly audience focussed organisation by delivering our mission.
You will take responsibility for marketing and communications activities across a range of media, utilising our audience insight data to achieve our visitor number, diversity and income targets and by continuing to grow YMT’s reputation for innovative content led digital communications. You will also manage our media relations and build relationships to raise our profile locally and nationally.
The ideal candidate will have either a PR, Journalism or Marketing qualification and/or relevant experience in those areas, along with a thorough understanding of the contemporary media landscape. You will bring ideas about how YMT can develop its communications and marketing activity to achieve its ambitions. You’ll have experience of leading a team, developing and implementing effective communications strategies, and a track record of managing key media stakeholder relationships.
A flexible approach to work is essential, including working evenings and/or weekends as required. The role will be based at York Castle Museum, but with the option to balance working on site with working from home.
