My client in Oxford is looking to recruit a Speciality Doctor in Haematology. This appointment is for a full-time speciality doctor on the Haemophilia & Thrombosis team. This post is suitable to someone who has completed core medical training and is keen to pursue haematology as a speciality.
The daily work of the department involves the routine clinical review and management of acute problems in adults with congenital bleeding disorders The department is also responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) referred by local general practitioners as well as supervision of the anticoagulation of patients within the county. You will join an existing team of four consultants (2.4 WTE) and two junior doctors.
The details of the role are:
- Grade: Registrar
- Location: Oxford
- Start date: ASAP on going until further notice.
- Shift pattern: Monday - Friday, 8:00-17:00, full & part time hours available (client will accept candidates part time 3 days per week)
- Middle Grade rates: £50-£75 per hour
Training & experience required:
- At least 4 years training/experience of managing medical patients in primary or secondary care at postgraduate level
- Competence at core completion level in the management of medical emergencies, inpatients and outpatients
- Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty with responsibility for Acute Medical Care
- At intermediary level the ability to manage clinical care (e.g. outpatients)
- Applicant’s knowledge is up-to-date and is safe to practice
- Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job
- Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need
